Ios, Greece

After leaving Santorini and four days of rest and relaxation we got a ferry over to Ios – the party island of Greece for two nights of hitting the d floor before Charlotte and Lauren went back to London.

Our hostel Far out Beach Club picked us up from the ferry terminal and we checked into our four bed bunk house with ensuite. It was so cool and compact, we loved it and said how cool it would be to have one of these at home. Far out lived up to its name as the place to stay – it is a really cool hostel complex with two pools, one for chilling out and one for partying, multiple bars, a tennis court, gym, laundry, restaurants and so forth all right on the beach. Would highly recommend staying here to anyone who comes to Ios.

Pre drink at Far out by the pool, DJ’s arrive at around 4 or 5pm and go until about 10pm. Grab the bus from outside the beach club to town. There are lots of bars to choose from. Would recommend lost boys and coo bar but mainly because they are the only two I have memory of.

Have lunch at Harmony on the hill. Yum Mexican restaurant and bar at the end of the beach with nice views over the water, there are also some cliff jumping spots nearby which we went and checked out afterwards and had a swim. Great restaurant and swimming spots both worth checking out. Mylopotas Beach, Ios.

Have breakfast at Cantina Del Mar, good brunch option to cure that hangover with lots of fresh smoothies and juices as well as good food options.

On our final day when we went to check out we found out that all ferries were not running because of high winds. Lauren and Char went to the port to try find out what was going on while we waited with the bags. About 4 hours later we got on a ferry which ended up being 5 hours to a neighbouring island Paxos and was very bumpy and rough before getting on another ferry in Paxos to Athens for another 5 hours and arrived in Athens at 4am in the morning. Worst travel day ever.

I would recommend staying in Ios for more than two nights so you can explore the island more than we did, but with all the partying maybe three nights would be enough!
